Okay, let’s be honest. Absolutely nobody gets engaged and thinks “ooh, I can’t wait to fill out the government paperwork”. But unfortunately, we do have to do a tiny bit of admin to keep things legal.
The good news? As your Sunshine Coast wedding celebrant, that’s entirely my problem, not yours.
Here’s what we’ll take care of together:
Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)
Consider this the official “we’re doing this” document. Required by the Attorney‑General’s Department, it needs to be completed and lodged with me at least one month before your wedding day.
I’ll walk you through the whole thing when we catch up so it’s done and dusted before you know it.
Declaration of No Legal Impediment (DONLIM)
Quick and straightforward, we’ll sort this one out just before the ceremony kicks off.
It’s essentially your legal confirmation that you’re free to marry, not already hitched to someone else and definitely not related to your soon‑to‑be spouse.
Your Marriage Certificate
Once you’ve said your vows and signed on the dotted line with your two witnesses, I’ll take care of lodging everything with Births, Deaths and Marriages on your behalf.
Your official certificate will follow within a week or two, locking you two in 100% on paper and in life. Woohoo!!
Honestly though, don’t give any of this a second thought until you’re booked in. I’ll guide you through every step so nothing slips through the cracks.

True story: Before I became a celebrant, I was organising private jets for celebs and managing logistics and international relations for the Commonwealth Games. So, showing up for your wedding completely prepared and ready for absolutely anything? Easy as pie and waaay more fun!
But the part I genuinely can’t get enough of? Witnessing two people stand in front of everyone they love and just completely fall apart in the best possible way. Someone hand me a tissue, please.
That’s why I do this. To be the person in your corner who makes the whole thing feel like the easiest, most meaningful day of your lives — one you’d do all over again in a heartbeat. (Spoiler: you totally can, because I do vow renewals too!)
